Veneers will effectively replace your teeth’ visible and protective portion: the enamel. So, you want veneers to be durable and to look and feel natural. We accomplish this by carefully selecting high-quality materials. We also work closely with patients when planning treatment. The process starts by preparing the natural tooth. A small bit of enamel is removed. Once the tooth is slightly “resized,” the veneer can fit on top of it properly. Modern veneers are very thin. Depending on the type or brand of veneer, little to no enamel removal is required for treatment. This feature helps to minimize the sensitivity that may be involved with procedures that alter the natural enamel. In turn, a numbing anesthetic may not be needed for comfort.
Once the natural tooth is ready, we prepare the porcelain tooth structure. Porcelain is a coveted dental material. It shares many properties with enamel, down to how it reflects light. Additionally, porcelain resists stains well (with proper oral care, of course). Dr. Yusupov collects lots of information about your teeth, which is used to make your veneers. While the veneers are made in a lab, temporary ones are placed to protect the prepared teeth. Once those veneers are ready, Dr. Yusupov will remove the temporaries and check that everything looks and feels right before adhering them to your teeth.
